Desire Repentance and Change

Something I really like about Sister Christensen is that she is really good at changing.  Every day she does a self-assessment and decides to change because of it.  And even though she is over 15 months into the mission you would never even think she had heard the word "trunky" because she is so here and now.  How do we get in ruts???  How do we get that feeling like we're in a stagnant pool of water??? It is when we don't take the time to repent on a daily basis.  This is how we act with purpose: by living everyday driven by the desire to change and improve and working hand in hand with the Lord to do so.  How can we do that if we don't take the time to reflect, repent, and pray for guidance to be better?  We can move forward a little bit, but it is minuscule in comparison to if every day we supplicate the Lord for His help.  And Sister Christensen has changed leaps and bounds since the beginning of her mission. This change usually comes after we desire.

"Desires dictate our priorities, priorities shape our choices, and choices determine our actions. The desires we act on determine our changing, our achieving, and our becoming." Elder Dallin H. Oaks

How do we gain a desire? By seeing in ourselves what the Lord sees in us. He sees WHO we are, not where was are right now, but WHO we are meant to be. When we see WHO we are we have much more hope and desire to become, pray for this vision, and pray for the desire to act on it.

This week has been one of service, cooking, and opportunities. We ended up turning Jair over (meaning giving him to the Elderd), which is sort of sad, but we felt like it was the right thing to do, so we did it. We had a great lesson where Sister Cuellar spoke to him in Spanish and helped him to reset a baptismal date.

We also started attending the Lewvan Ward this week. It was great! It has a much smaller feel, something more like Selkirk so that was nice! And they haven’t seen sisters in six months so it’s really nice to feel that appreciation of opening a new are again. That feels good. Aparently the bishop and his counselors didn’t really prepare anyone to give talks, so that meant we were up! J Good times.

And that’s a warp. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!! I’ll have some turkey for you.

Love You!

Heidi Hill
